Re: Any streams for today's match?
It was a fine day out in the sun and as usual we were in fine voice!

I don't know whether it was apparent on the stream but it was fuckin windy and a lot of balls were going astray. Haksabanovic looked good fro. Where I was sitting and it was good to see Wilshire knocking the ball about, looking as if he had all the time in the world.

Thanks Haz. I take it he’s still at his level and not ready for the PL, or has he beefed up a bit?

Yeah Sears played. Had a reasonable game too.

Re: Any streams for today's match?
A win against a reasonably decent 2nd tier team can only be good for confidence and not importantly fitness. No injuries, I hope.

Did sears play?

Re: Any streams for today's match?
I thought the little Rice cameo was superb, he looks an absolute natural in DM (regardless of what the chump says) and will grow into a beast of a player if he's kept there, which he surely will be.

Also, for those that constantly slag off Noble, it was absolutely night & day when he replaced Kouyate, the difference in football intelligence and ability is ridiculous.

Anderson is going to need some time to adapt to English football, he was getting bullied far too easily, needs to be braver.

Balbuena gave the ball away far too often, but then he didn't have options when he had the ball and they were pressing, because he had The Myth in front of him who should be there most of the time as the easy ball, but weren't.

Still a lot to work on, and the team will need time as it's a massive turnaround of first team players to expect to hit the ground running and we need to be patient. We've got the worst fixture of the season for us first up, let's hope Liverpool are caught cold on the opening day but it's unlikely.

Re: Any streams for today's match?
Disappointing performance after Villa & definitely agree we are far better with Noble & Rice than Kouyate & Obiang
One or both need replaced

Re: Any streams for today's match?
Incidentally, where is Hugill? Injured or just off the radar entirely? Would have thought today would have been an ideal game for him, if for no other reason than it's his level and a shop window whilst protecting Arnie from over use/risk

Re: Any streams for today's match?
I think Pellegrini made it clear from watching us last season that we were shit defensively which is why he has bought a keeper and 3 defenders.
And presumably/hopefully he is looking at selling Obiang and Kouyate and getting better players to help the defence.
Defence / defensive midfield is obviously a work in progress and will take time to come together
Don’t think we will be singing 1-0 to the West Ham but imagine Pellegrini hopes our defence to be better than ‘shit’

Re: Any streams for today's match?
ED
Agree 100%
Kouyate has been pony for a long time but I have always cut Obiang some slack and reasoned he would be better with better players in front of him - he was not, he was shit - the pairing absolute shit

Re: Any streams for today's match?
Jake, all you need to know is this.

Kouyate & Obiang in central midfield = disaster

Rice & Noble in central midfield - a thousand times better

Re: Any streams for today's match?
Villa and Ipswich are both a week ahead of us in pre-season preparation so it is pleasing to have beaten both in four days.

Rice and Noble brought a bit more organisation and stability in the second half after the piss poor Obiang and Kouyate were taken off.
Balbuena not as good today as in the Villa game but he still looks more composed than young Diop. It's a toss up who Pellegrini will start with.
All in all decent performances against Championship opposition.

Crassus 6:46 Sat Jul 28
Re: Any streams for today's match?
In isolation, in that match we looked broadly shite, specifically in the first half - Arnie excepted
Better when the 'old West Ham' and kids tipped up in the second half, Noble playing the 'Pirlo' role again against weaker opponents impressed
Lots to do before we run into the Scousers that's for sure, on and off the pitch

jakehammer 6:45 Sat Jul 28
Re: Any streams for today's match?
obviously i'm really glad for the win, but that bloody Ipswich stream was nothing less than shit.the bloody thing kept stopping and it was almost like watching that american nfl rubbish. run 2 metres and a fucking wait.
still we got the win anyway.
COYI !!!.

Re: Any streams for today's match?
I think everyone is going to accept that we are not going to be a defensively solid team. The manager we've employed has never been known for putting out teams to keep it tight.

We've been shit defensively for years, and we've also been shit to watch. We'll be shit defensively still, but we'll be good to watch. Isn't that what we've all been after?

nychammer 6:37 Sat Jul 28
Re: Any streams for today's match?
Hardly riveting and a bit of a “getting acquainted” type of performance. Wouldn’t be surprised if it took some time to come together, though expectation will no doubt be through the roof. We looked vulnerable defensively at times and that has to be a concern for Pellegrini.

Arnautovic has exploded as a player over the last nine months and he’s consistent with it too. A nightmare for defenders.
